Refrain from anarchy, Tuku tells political parties


State Minister for Home Shamsul Haque Tuku on Tuesday claimed ‘some political parties’ were harbouring anarchy in the country and urged them to stay away from ‘such practices’.

“Restraining such criminals who are backed by political parties is a sensitive issue,” he told a meeting at the secretariat to discuss the preparation for the celebration of the Bengali New Year - Pahela Baishakh.
The state minister for Home said Ramna Park and Dhaka University area will be declared no smoking zones during the Bengali New Year’s Celebration.

“Do not come to the gathering with lighters and matchboxes”, he said.

He said strong security arrangements will be put in place at Ramna Batamul and other places of Dhaka University on Apr 14.

Anyone who attempts to create violence will be caught in the security net, he added.

After the meeting, the minister told reporters that he has ordered all the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to discuss the matter with all concerned parties for successful competition of the event.
