Pak court orders Musharraf’s arrest

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday turned down a plea for extending the interim bail of former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and ordered his arrest.

BBC reported that Musharraf appeared in court with heavy security seeking extension of his bail in the morning in the Judges’ confinement case of Mar 2007.

But police did not arrest Musharraf after the order was issued. Rather he managed to escape with his private security guards from the court premises, BBC said.

Musharraf had earlier managed to extend his interim bail till Apr 18.

But the Lahore High Court has granted Musharaff interim bail until Apr 24 in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

The former President is however out of the electoral race as his nomination papers from all four constituencies he had filed to contest have been turned down by an Pakistani election tribunal.
