Hifazat to hold rally at Motijheel

Police have granted the Hifazat-e-Islam permission to hold their Saturday rally at Motijheel amidst widespread criticism.
“The Hifazat-e-Islam has been permitted to hold a peaceful rally on Saturday from 11am to 5pm at Shapla Chattar area,” Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman told bdnews24.com on Thursday.

The Hifazat had applied for the permission on Mar 30, he said.

In the application, the organisation had sought one of three places to hold its rally – Manik Mia Avenue, Paltan Maidan and Motijheel Shapla Chattar, Rahman said.

Meanwhile, Shahbagh's Ganajagaran Mancha has also announced to hold a rally the same day in Shahbagh.
