25 tin-shed houses burnt in city fire

Some 25 tin-shed houses were gutted when a fire broke out in old city today, leaving over 200 people homeless.
"The blaze broke out from a house at JN Shaha Road under Lalbagh Police Station at about 8.30 am and soon spread through the area damaging 25 houses," Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Shahjadi Sultana told BSS.
She said, being informed, firefighters with three units battled to extinguish the blaze, which originated from an electric short-circuit, for about two hours.
Witnesses said there were no casualties reported but more than 200 people lost their homes in the fire. The losses in the fire are estimated about Taka 12 lakh, the station officer added.
